Bachelor in Dental Surgery BDS (Univ. of Dundee) 1975.
Liz worked in a variety of junior hospital posts in Dundee, Newcastle and Edinburgh, as well as a spell in General Practice.
She passed FDS in Glasgow in 1984 then underwent basic speciality training in Orthodontics at Manchester Dental Hospital, gaining DOrth (Eng) in 1986 and MSc in 1987.
After several years as an Orthodontic SDO with an Honorary teaching contract with the University of Manchester, during which she completed a PhD on Orthodontic standards in the GDS (1996), she completed higher speciality training in Manchester and Bolton as a full-time Clinical Lecturer/Honorary FTTA, successfully taking FDS(Orth) in October 2005, and also gaining Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Present Post
- Consultant Orthodontist with NHS Grampian, based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, now based at the Aberdeen Dental School and Hospital, with regular clinics also at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin, and periodic consultant advice clinics for Shetland Health Board in Lerwick.
- She also has honorary teaching contracts with the Universities of Dundee and Aberdeen
Main Orthodontic Research Interests
Orthodontic need and factors influencing outcome, facial aesthetics, and waiting list management and factors affecting duration of treatment.
