National Orthodontic Week
National Orthodontic Week (NOW) has its own dedicated organising group but cross refers to the Communications Committee. The first NOW was launched on 22 March at the National Portrait Gallery. Here are some top line statistics:
The dedicated NOW website has received 3,500 hits
A YouGov’ survey for NOW revealed that 45% of UK adults were unhappy with the appearance of their teeth and 20% of these would consider orthodontic treatment
A number of innovative practice initiatives were developed to increase the public outreach of the campaign
NOW spokespeople Nigel Harradine and Louise Harper conducted 11 radio interviews
Press coverage appeared in 14 publications including the Daily Mail and The British Dental Journal
There were 35 electronic news stories published during the week
We reached a total audience of 6,460,271 people with our media coverage
The equivalent advertising spend of the NOW press coverage would have been £135,546.
25 branded NOW items were sold and 5% commission given to BOSF – this raised funds of £336.60
A three minutes film explaining the benefits of orthodontic treatment was produced for NOW
A NOW competition attracted over 250 entrants.
Sponsorship was obtained from 6 companies to offset NOW development costs
WebsitesThere are now two BOS sub-sites for NOW and 2015. The Communications Committee is working on plans to revamp the main BOS website.
