Scholarship and Grants Committee

Roles and Responsibilities

The Scholarship and Grants Committee supervises and administers all scholarships, prizes and academic awards and all research grants offered by the Society. It is responsible for raising funds to support grants and awards.

S&G aims to:

  •  Ensure high levels of governance and transparency in all its activities
  •  Promote the BOS and the orthodontic specialty through its activities
  •  Continue to develop and grow the range of activities it can undertake

S&G will achieve this through:

  •  Continuing review of awards, prizes, grants and associated procedures
  •  Establishing and maintaining a high profile for its activities by use of:
  •  BOS publications including JO
  •  Press releases
  •  Awards ceremonies
  •  BOS website

 Actively seeking financial support from:

  •  Orthodontic & Dental trade
  •  BOS members
  •  Commercial bodies
  •  Other sources of charitable funds

To enable the committee to deliver this ambitious plan all nominated members of the committee will be required to take an active role with designated responsibilities. These include:

Awards ceremonies

Chair

Website development / maintenance

S & G sponsorship / trade liaison

Governance of awards procedures (the regulations)

Appointment of judges etc.

The Chair of the committee will be expected to actively oversee the work of the committee and has responsibility for the delivery of its remit.

The Vice-Chair has responsibility to actively oversee the work of BOSF, including monitoring progress of funded research projects
