Community Group report Sept 2010
Committee Changes
Yvonne Jones replaced Alison Newlyn as Chair in January. Brenda Ng was elected onto the committee at the AGM replacing Mike Smith and she will be our representative on Clinical Standards. Alison Newlyn is the CG representative on SAC.
Committee Meetings
The committee has met twice during the year in December 2009 and May 2010
The CG AGM was held during the Study Day on 13th May. We said farewell to Mike Smith who has been on the committee in various capacities since 1987 and in recognition of his sterling service we presented him with a glass bowl. The AGM also confirmed Alison Newlyn as the CG representative on SAC and Brenda Ng was elected onto the committee.
CG Study Day
We held our Study Day on Thursday 13th May. The 32 delegates were mainly from Community Group (24) but we were delighted to have members from COG (1), OSG (5), PG (1) and ONG (1) in the audience. The four speakers were Nigel Taylor who spoke on the transverse dimension, Ravi Saravanamuttu updating on restorative and periodontal treatment, Peter Ward on BDA matters, and Rye Mattick discussing cultural and ethical dilemmas in dentistry.
Divestment of PCT provider services
No further updates on this, but I will expect more information in the next few months as the deadline for this is April 2011.
Future meetings
At our last meeting in May it was decided to reduce the number of committee meetings to three and our next meeting will be on Sunday 19th September in Brighton.
We are having a CG Discussion Lunch at BOC, on Tuesday 21st September.
A Study Day is planned for the 17th March 2011 our AGM will also be on the same date.
