TREASURER’S REPORT

Dear Colleagues,

The Training Grades Group committee has worked very hard over the year and have been involved in a number of projects to enhance the specialist training programmes in Orthodontics in the UK.

Financially, we were given a budget of £6000.00 from the BOS treasurer to manage our finances for 2009. According to our latest accounts up to August 2009 our expenses amount to £ 3612.64, leaving a surplus of £2387.36 for the remaining of 2009. In 2008 our total yearly expenses were £ 3662.63

This year we have had two very good national meetings, the TGG Spring Meeting in February and the ISFE Study day in July at the BDA headquarters. We managed to attract record number of delegates for both meeting and the feedback received from both meetings was very positive. From the meetings we have made a good profit. The revenue generated from the registrations and sponsorship was £9482.50 and the expenses for these meetings were £7051.73 leaving us with a profit of £2430.77 to date. We have organised one other meeting for the SHO’s who are interested in applying for Orthodontics in November at the BOS headquarters. This will boost our meetings profits further which will go towards the BOS Charitable Funds. This will leave the TGG finances for 2009 in a very good surplus for the next treasurer to take over. In 2008, the profit from the meetings was £ 1935.29 in total.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the TGG committee for their hard work and all of you for supporting the TGG by attending the meetings and contributing towards the running of the TGG. Without this support we would not have has such a successful year. Lastly, I must thank all our sponsors, (TOC, Ormco, OrthoCare, 3M and Forestadent) for being so supportive towards the TGG without whom we would have struggled to have such fantastic meetings. I have thoroughly enjoyed being the treasurer of the TGG this year and serving you all and wish the best of luck to the new treasurer and committee for 2010. Thank you all for your support.
