The 2007 British Orthodontic Conference will take place in Harrogate on September 23rd to 26th. See the Conference leaflet.
In the year when British orthodontics is officially 100 years old the British Orthodontic Conference is returning to one of the Society's favourite venues, the Harrogate International Conference Centre. With its 2000 seat auditorium and recently expanded trade exhibition space this is one of the best conference facilities in the UK.
The programme is excellent and particularly clinically relevant, covering such important topics as risk management and consent for the orthodontic patient to the use of microimplants. The Northcroft Lecture will be given by Professor Murray Meikle, who will look at the advances made in the last 100 years and how far orthodontics has come.
On Monday there will be the Table Discussions allowing you to get some one-to-one expert advice over some canapes. You can also pick up ideas in the ever popular Clinical Tips session. The poster demonstrations and case presentations will be on show for all three days so you can view the latest research and the quality of clinical cases that our postgraduates are producing. The Trade Exhibition has been expanded to accommodate more stands and table demonstrations, and there will be a special exhibition commemorating the formation of the British Society for the Study of Orthodontics in 1907.
The celebrations will continue on the Sunday night at the Gala Reception, which on the 100th birthday of British Orthodontics will celebrate another great British institution with an 007 theme. Expect some special surprises. To cap it all there will be the splendour of the banquet on the Tuesday night . It should be an excellent three days so put the dates in your diary, and remember to book early to take advantage of the early-bird discount.
