Jason Cope
Jason received his dental training at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1995, he was awarded his orthodontic certificate in 1997, and a PhD in 1999 on Distraction Osteogenesis. During this time he was invited to join the orthodontic department at Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas as an adjunct clinical assistant professor. He has published 22 refereed journal articles, 36 book chapters, a research handbook and co-edited a 600-page textbook on Distraction Osteogenesis. In addition, he has given over 150 lectures nationally and internationally. Jason is an ad hoc reviewer for the American Journal of Orthodontics, the World Journal of Orthodontics, The Angle Orthodontist, the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and was the guest editor for the March 2005 issue of Seminars In Orthodontics on OrthoTADs. He has recently published his second textbook "OrthoTADs: The Clinical Guide and Atlas". In September 2007 he was awarded fellowship to the American College of Dentists. Jason's private practice is located in Dallas, Texas. Temporary Anchorage Devices in Orthodontics
This course will briefly cover the historical background of orthodontic temporary anchorage devices (OrthoTADs). The clinical component of the day is broken into the following sections: diagnosis and treatment planning, indications/contraindications, surgical placement, biomechanical considerations and clinical applications, and removal procedures. Specific emphasis will be placed on the treatment of Class II and anterior open bite cases.
Jonathan Sandler
Jonathan has been a Consultant Orthodontist at Chesterfield Royal Hospital since 1993. He is an examiner for the MOrth and ISFE examinations and one of two British orthodontists with European Board Certification. He is the author of over 70 peer reviewed publications and is clinical editor for the Journal of Orthodontics and contributing editor to the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics. He has been Chairman of the British Orthodontic Conference Committee and is currently Chairman of the 2015 World Orthodontic Conference. His clinical interests are digital photography, twin blocks and the use of miniscrew implants in orthodontic practice.
Miniscrew Implants in UK practice - NICE guidance
The use of miniscrews in a number of difficult scenarios will be discussed in some detail. NICE have, for some inexplicable reason, taken an interest in the use of miniscrews in orthodontics. This talk will look at NICE's involvement in the subject and on what basis they plan to issue guidance for clinicians.
Sheila Scott
Sheila has an MA in Psychology and a Diploma in Marketing. She was Marketing Manager for a number of finance companies in the 80s, including Lloyds Bank Small Business Services until she started her own consultancy business in 1989. Sheila works with dental teams to develop practice success, profits and personal and business effectiveness. Her particular interest is in communication and behaviour.
Guiding and motivating the team through times of change
One of the biggest challenges facing any business owner is making sure the team performs well enough to make the business optimally successful and ensuring it is fully satisfying its customers. It helps if there's a great team atmosphere too! How many orthodontists are taught the skills they need to get the most out of their people? This session provides an introduction to the psychology of changing behaviour and presents a simple, practical framework for guiding others to change.
