What does the NHS offer?
Orthodontics is an integral part of the NHS Dental Services. Treatment for teenagers is covered by the NHS if there is a demonstrable need. The decision is normally based on the Index of Orthodontric Treatment Need - see below. Unfortunately there are shortages of NHS orthodontic practitioners in some areas and it can sometimes be hard to access NHS orthodontic treatment.

What is IOTN? The Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need is now used by the NHS to decide which cases are severe enough to warrant treatment funded by the NHS
