The British Orthodontic Society (BOS) is keen to establish a Patient / Public Information group to ensure that the information we provide to patients and their families is appropriate and accessible – further details are noted below:
What is the group for?
The aim of this group will be to review BOS information leaflets and other publications to check that they are attention grabbing and clear and easy to read. We would like to recruit between six and ten people who are currently undergoing - or have recently undergone - orthodontic treatment and ask them to periodically review and discuss the written information that is published by BOS.
How will the group work?
We plan to hold three online meetings each year (March, July and November) starting in March 2021. In these meetings the PPI group will review and discuss a range of written materials currently available to the public or planned for publication. These will be sent to group members two or three weeks before the meeting for reading and consideration; the online meeting will then be used to decide whether any changes are required or whether the documents are ready to be published.
How much time would I need to give as part of this group?
We expect initial reading and consideration of the documents (before each meeting) to take up to two hours and then each meeting will take up to two hours. In return for their participation, appointed group members will receive an Amazon voucher worth £20.00 for each meeting attended. People can sign up for one year to begin with and then extend their term to three years if they want to continue.
