Training modules for Orthodontic Nurses

The use of a varying skill mix in Orthodontic practice has now become widely accepted with the advent of orthodontic therapists ten years ago. Orthodontic nurses with appropriate training now carry out extended duties including taking radiographs, dental impressions and clinical photographs.

The OSG have now created an in house resource to enable you to train your orthodontic nurses in how to take impressions and clinical photography within your own practices.

It includes PowerPoint presentations to deliver the theoretical training, records of experience, evaluation of the training forms and certificates of completion of the training.

Once the training has been completed the evaluation forms of the trainees need to be retained within the practice to satisfy the regulations for CPD.

This resource would not have been possible without input from a number of people and I would like to thank Matt Clover, Fran Cannings, Ben Taylor and Professor Jonathan Sandler for sharing their expertise with our membership.

We hope you find it useful.
