Clinical Governance

This directorate has a wide remit. It oversees and undertakes:

  • Developing standards and advising on ethics in relation to orthodontics
  • Quality assurance in orthodontics
  • Ethical issues relating to:
    • Clinical practice
    • Professional conduct
    • Practice management
    • Employment issues
  • Answering queries from members/public/external bodies on standards/ethics
    • Professional complaints
    • Patient complaints
    • Dispute resolution
    • Advertising standards
  • Liaison with external bodies
    • HQIP
    • Other associations eg. BAOMS, ABA, RCS
    • European movement of specialists – liaison with the international committee
  • Information for members, external bodies and the public
    • Updating advice sheets and PILs
    • Developing new advice sheets and PILs
    • Updating and developing information available for the public on the website
    • Updates Clinical Guidelines produced by Royal College of Surgeons
    • BOS Social media channels
    • BOS patient information videos
  • Publicise ethics and governance issues to BOS membership through publications such as:
    • BOS News
    • Clinical Effectiveness Bulletin

Director of Clinical Governance

Jadbinder Seehra

Jadbinder qualified with Honours from University of Manchester in 2002 and undertook his specialty orthodontic training at both Guys and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust and Kent and Canterbury Hospitals. He was awarded his MSc with Merit from Kings College London, and obtained the Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) in 2009.

During his training he has treated many complex cases, adult and child patients and multidisciplinary cases using a range of orthodontic appliances and techniques. He is a current Royal College of Surgeons MJDF examiner and has held the position of Chairman of the National Training Grades Group of the British Orthodontic Society in 2011.
